A Calling to India

So many important moments coming and fleeing quickly here at Breath of Life. We watched with tears and smiles as one of our young new mothers placed her tiny daughter into the tearful, joyful arms of the first time, adoptive parents. Their response? To pray over the birthparents. I love my job. Pray for them as they walk through these difficult days of both grief at their loss and joy at seeing the pictures of her wrapped in more love than even they could have ever imagined for her.
Pray for the young mother who gave birth, and then had to have CPS intervene on the baby's half to make sure she could learn the vital parenting skills she was never taught herself. In fact, her mother medicated her heavily until her mid teens so that she wouldn't be a "problem" or "nuisance," allowing her own adult boyfriends to abuse her. But the new baby is healthy, perfect and a gift from the Lord. I still love my job.
Or we could pray for the young mother who is preparing to place in the fall and is nervously anticipating meeting her prospective adoptive parents for the first time. Her historyincludes an abusive, alcoholic father who still tears her down to this day. She sat with me a few weeks ago and prayed for him, desperate for him to see what God was doing in her life. Then came the phone call from him to her, "I want to find what you've discovered in a relationship with Jesus Christ." And the healing begins. I love my job.
God has released us into a hurting world. All of us. Some of them on our doorstep. Others come from literally around the world and ask for the light He is shining down on Breath of Life to be lit in their country. We've received such a request from India. God prepared my heart with a request earlier in the year asking about the same thing, but from another source. I dismissed it....til it came up two more times.
One of the strongest desires of this organization is that we want to tithe into other maternity ministries, or the planting of them. Such it is with India. We've been asked to do concerts across their country, educating communities with regards to the value of life and our responsibility to love and help these young mothers and their tiny unborn.
The money for such a trip, just as it has been for Ukraine, Brazil and the other fledgling ministries to whom God has sent us, comes from Breath of Life tithing our gifts and pouring our own selves into them. Our dilemma has been how to encourage help with this project when funding for our daily ministry is a challenge.
So I ask for your prayers. I lovingly challenge you to reach deep enough to allow us to go into a land that still often kills their young daughters who are found to be pregnant, a horror we cannot imagine in our own country. Copy and paste the two following links to see present day accounts of "Honor Killings" which still occur frequently in various villages and communities:

We ask for your prayers of provision, preparation and courage as we walk into what God has so specifically called us to do within the borders of India. The folks there are elated at our willingness to come and simply serve, teach and encourage. I look forward with great anticipation to watch as God opens the doors for His people to lift each other up.
