Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Mo....

Today, in the middle of the work day, a young man stopped by with some baby items to donate.  When I asked jokingly, "So who sent you?" thinking he would say his wife, he simply replied, "God did."  Well, duh Jeannine! ;-)  The response was encouraging.  He asked if I knew of any simple ways he could help out one of our moms.  It didn't take long for us to come up a way he could individually give of himself to serve our God by providing for one of our single moms with some time spent working on her car. What a great testimony of God's provision and a servant's heart.

So, he left with anticipation of a way to help, and I was very blessed by someone coming in to offer their time and help.  As the staff buried themselves back into their work, low an dbehold a second person came up the sidewalk about a half an hour later.  She came asking if a group could make babies quilts for us......Are you kidding me??  What a blessing it would be to give each new mom a specially made blanket made in love and covered in prayers for their newborn.  I'd call this a great day at the office!  God knew we needed the encouragement and sent His own little saints to remind us that we are all in this together, blessing, encouraging and helping these mommies as they discover their value in Christ by us loving them to a relationship in Him.

You, too, can be the one that makes that simple step and makes a world of difference for both our women and our staff in joining with us.  I've listed some urgent, and some not so urgent but important needs that we currently have.  We keep an updated needs list on our website so that we're ready when God nudges your heart.

Current Needs and Projects'
*Most urgent: $1000 to get our newsletter from the printer and out to those who can help
(these are normally around $600 and are sent quarterly, but was dropped to once
this year to cut down on costs)

*One month's office rent $400

*Diapers: sizes 6 month to 2 years

*Ink Cartridges,HP #'s 21, 22

*HEB and Walmart cards for the moms

*Place to hold board mtg w/ video conferencing capabilities

*Childcare for upcoming single mom Bible study

*Dinner brought one time per volunteer for upcoming small Bible study

*Project Safe Haven

-this will enclose a back porch on a staff member's home to provide housing for a homeless pregnant woman while we find her a place and while we
wait to reopen Sarah's House this coming spring

*Drive for a Day-

pick once a week you can help us get a woman to a dr.'s appointment or school

and last but probably the greatest need at this point:
*A monthly commitment of any size to allow BOL the opportunity to continue being here for each and every painful call for help.

So many of you ask for projects and ideas.  Have fun and see where God will lead. Together we really are offering hope for two hearts.  May your week be blessed!

Your heart will be blessed

Friday, October 16th 2009 @ 6:41 AM    post viewed 147 times

I have to share this with you.  I'm sitting here late at night (which is why I'm a challenge to work with early in the morning....;-)  on some various BOL stuff when I receive a message from our newest birthmother.  Just days ago she cradled her tiny boy in her arms and told him to "be brave, love God and enjoy your wonderful life with these awesome parents."  Then she set him into their arms and let go.  She has no idea how close to God's heart she takes us by allowing us to be a part of this miracle.  So, all that said, tonight comes this message.  It was to me AND the new adoptive parents:

"There are steps of healing that everyone goes thru and today I hung pictures of baby Aidan (Clayton) up on my wall of my room. It doesnt hurt to look at the pictures anymore. Im proud of myself for choosing adoption over abortion. I wouldnt be able to live with myself if I had chosen abortion. I brought a beautiful baby boy into this world and helped a childless couple complete their family. I feel so very blessed to have done all this with God and Jeannines love and help. I can hold my head high because I made the right choice. Thank you Lord! Thank you Jeannine! Thank you Mitch and Joan! I love you all!"

It's every day plugging away one hug at a time. And YOU, with your support, prayers and encouragement are how God continues to allow this ministry to thrive.  THANK you. And may you be as richly blessed by this sweet, sweet love note as we have been.
